This rather elaborately named coffee still comes up short when surmising the good work being accomplished by its producers. The association ARGCAFE started 10 years ago and has since had over 150 members join - all committed to changing the narrative and economic realities in the region. In addition to being part of a program designed to promote the cultivation of legal crops like coffee (in place of illicit ones like coca), this particular lot is exclusively from the women members of the collective, an initiative that seeks to address the many gender inequities for women in coffee. And we haven’t even got to the taste yet: warm toffee and amaretto notes are punctuated by tangy berry acidity and raisin sweetness.
